Play the sci-fi epic Android

There's a game that came out in 1982 based upon the sci-fi/pulp noir movie Blade Runner. I haven't played it, and I don't want to because I've found a game that is full of the atmosphere and themes the movie had; that game is Android.

Android from Fantasy Flight Games

This is one of Fantasy Flight's larger games, though not as large as Descent or Twilight Imperium. It was designed by Daniel Clark and Kevin Wilson, the latter of whom is responsible for the fantastic Arkham Horror games. You can expect all of the standard Fantasy Flight loot, and it took me about an hour to get everything punched out and organized.

The game is set in a dystopian future in New Angeles. You take the role of an investigator trying to crack a murder and unravel the conspiracy behind it. In order to do this, you track down leads and get more evidence for your suspect to prove their guilt or innocence. While doing this you must also fight the personal demons that are haunting your investigator. At the end, the player who best handled the three different aspects of the game (murder, conspiracy, personal plot) will be the winner.

I have to admit, I was pretty intimidated by this game when I pulled it apart. I read through all of the rules and was certain I didn't know how to play the game. Even during my first play through with my brothers, I was sure I was missing rules and mechanics. As it turns out, we got nearly everything right and it was a pretty straight forward game once you got by all the bits. What I did realize during my first two plays of the game is this is another hugely story centric experiences, just like Arkham Horror. With these two games, I've found I'm less interested in trying to win at all costs and more interested in seeing how the game breaks my character down before the end.

If this sounds interesting, then come to MumfordCon 2011!
